Makeup Collection~ How I Organize My Everyday Makeup Setup

  Hey Everyone!

Before I get into showing you all my latest video that I posted which is my "Makeup Collection and how I organize my everyday makeup setup", I'd like to say YAY for Gabby Douglas who is the US gymnast who just won Gold in the all around gymnast competition. I couldn't be more thrilled for her! :) It's a great day for the US and the world of gymnastics!

Back to my video. I posted this to give you guys some ideas on how I organize products, and where I bought some basic organization tools. I've gotten questions about it in the past and I wanted to do a little overview.

My favorite videos to watch are the ones when people show how they that weird?! I guess that's why I was so interested in making this video for you.

A special thanks to MANDY for letting me use her music in my videos. :) I'm a big fan!

Amazing Drugstore Nailpolish: Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Nail Laquer

Hey Guys, Make-up and lashes I get, but nail’s have always been difficult for me!!!

Especially finding a good nail polish that really lasts on my nails. I have ranted about having a difficult time finding long wearing nail polish before. It seems as if I’ve tried every nail polish brand out there…drugstore and high end. But, believe it or not I have found one that is super cheap and absolutely does the job for me!

The Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Nail Laquer is amazing nail polish!!! I randomly picked up the wild orchid shade when I saw it and loved the color. I realized it lasted on my nails 4 good days and I definitely could have left it on longer, but when I get one or two chips in it, I always feel the need to remove it all and start again. These retail between $3-5 depending on the store and location

Lasting Finish Pro Nail Lacquer

I went out and got 2 other colors just to make sure it was not just a fluke that this nail polish had lasted so long on my nails…(4 days with no chips at all is REALLY amazing for me). I got the French Rose color which is just a french manicure soft pink color and the posh pink. I tried both and they wore exactly the same! These are long wearing, have a super glossy finish and come in a really chic pretty bottle. They’re inexpensive too!!

I can’t say enough good things about this nail polish. It is my new favorite! There are not a ton of colors to choose from  , but hopefully they will make more soon.

What do you think of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Nail Polish ? Have you tried one yet? For $4 it’s definitely worth at least checking out once if you too are frustrated with your nails!

Love, Lauren

My Interview with Umberto of Umberto Beverly Hills- All About Hair

Hi Guys! Last week I shared with you guys 3 interviews with makeup artists! Today, I have an interview with Umberto of Umberto Beverly Hills hair products. You can find these at Target Stores or on the website:

Enjoy my interview with a master of hair!

How do you get your inspiration for your spring/summer collections?

My inspiration for spring/summer hair comes from three things - the texture and colors of the Runway Collections, shoes because they have a lot of attitude (shapes, height and heel and textures) and Nature which always inspires the hair color palette as well as shape of the hair. Women are always ready for change in spring because they are influenced by nature's changes.

What is your favorite spring/summer 2011 trend?

My favorite spring/summer trend is fewer layers in general and only using layers to frame the face and cut.  You will see fewer long overly layered styles.  More of a Stevie Nicks look - bangs, soft layering, more natural. For color - the hot color is golden brown. You want to see the glow of the golden. I recommend Umberto Beverly Hills U Color in 6.32 Golden Brown to get the look.  Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) has that gorgeous glow at the moment.

As a creative person, what are some other creative things you like to do?

I like gardening, cooking, entertaining and traveling - all inspire me.  My table presentation while entertaining typically includes various fruit, flowers, leaves, bark and vegetables.  These shades inspired my color palate for my hair color line.

What is your top beauty tip? It can be anything.

My top beauty tip is to not fight your hair.  Control it! Don't let it control you, but most importantly embrace the hair that you have.  Learn to make it look its best, especially in the summer. Use my Roman Oil Serum to nourish the hair, control frizz and fly-aways or to just style. The Controller is a leave-in conditioner that is a wonderful blow dry tool.  It helps control and add shine as well as body. To preserve a fabulous blow dry in the summer wrap the hair into a messy bun on top side or back of the head and leave the bangs out. It will preserve the blow dry. Let it down for the evening and the style is full of body and bounce. If you have wavy or curly hair, take sections, tease the bottom up, then loop the hair and pin up, fish tail the hair pins so that it does not pop out. The hair looks fresh, shorter and off of your neck. Another great summer tip is to use my Shimmer Spray for added shine without weighing hair down!

Talk to you guys soon!!

Lots of Love LO

My Interview Questions for Makeup Artist Jemma Kidd

Hi Guys! A couple of days ago I shared with you my interview with Petra Strand of Pixi Makeup. The fabulous thing is...I had an opportunity to ask some other makeup artist and hair stylists some of those same questions.

The interview  I want to share with you today is with Makeup Artist, Jemma Kidd. I asked her four questions I wanted to know...enjoy! :)

1. How do you get your inspiration for your spring/summer collections?

I’m inspired by so many things: fashion, film, books, art, nature, different cultures, people, photography… the list is endless! London is also a constant source of inspiration. Just walking through the streets you’re exposed to so many different styles and influences.

2. What is your favorite spring/summer 2011 trend?

There’s no escaping the trend for bold, bright lip colour this spring/summer. Lips were making a statement on the catwalks in an array of tutti-frutti shades; from juicy pink pouts at Jil Sander and Diane von Furstenberg to tangerine hues that looked good enough to eat at Marni. This season, the finish is all-important too – think matte with crisp, well-defined edges – so dig out your lip liner! Pair with polished skin and just a slick of mascara for effortless elegance.

3. As a creative person, what are some other creative things you like to do?

If I wasn’t a make-up artist, I would have loved to have been an artist. It’s difficult to find the time to paint now though – I had twins 18 months ago, so when I’m not working, every spare moment is spent enjoying time with my babies and my husband at our home in the country.

4. What is your top beauty tip? It can be anything.

Some lipsticks look fantastic in the tube, but look very different once applied, due to the natural pink colouring of the lips. To counteract this, dab a touch of foundation over lips to neutralise the colour, then apply your lipstick on top. You'll get the true shade that way, which is especially important if you're recreating this season’s ‘statement lip’ trend.

Thank you SO much Jemma!
